Under the same ownership for many years, The Market has one of the smallest bars on the island, serving two separate rooms. What it lacks in size is more than made up for in character with few pubs remaining of this style in the British Isles. This is a friendly pub, where the visitor is almost bound to end up in conversation with other drinkers. In close proximity to the bus station and ferry terminal, it makes a great waiting room. An unusual painting of a market scene resides above the front bar, apparently painted by a customer in days gone by. It was in recent years rediscovered, having been covered by another painting. The beers available have for some time been exclusively from Bushy's. In early 2026 a third hand pump was installed. All three beers available are from Bushy's. At TT race periods look out for an OMG beer, Old Market Grog, brewed especially by Bushys for the race festival, exclusively for 'The Market' as the pub is known as. In the back room there is a log burner, set in an old fireplace of a style rarely now seen. the fireplace being still in use. Britannia tables are still found in this room, with again a traditional red lino flooring seldom now seen, but once common. The pub has a long assosiation with charitable fund raising for the motorbike races, with produce available such as cards and trinket boxes available for purhcase, to aid funds for the races. There is a small section for swapping books and dvds in the rear room also with a view to raising funds. The front room is even smaller than the back, served by the same bar area, with only space for one bar person. The layout of this front room is such that almsot without exception it encourages drinkers to chat and interact with each other.
